NKX3-1 wt Allele Definition

Human NKX3-1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 8p21 and is approximately 4 kb in length. This allele, which encodes homeobox protein Nkx-3.1, plays a role in the suppression of transcription by RNA polymerase II, the proliferation of glandular epithelium and the development of ducts in the prostate.
