NQO1 wt Allele Definition
Human NQO1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 16q22.1 and is approximately 17 kb in length. This allele, which encodes NAD(P)H dehydrogenase [quinone] 1 protein, plays a role in the reduction of quinones to hydroquinones. It is also involved in the biosynthesis of prothrombin. The NQO1 gene is overexpressed in many types of cancer.
