Nickel Compound Definition
A strong, corrosion and heat resistant, inorganic substance that contains the metallic element nickel. Nickel compounds are used in industry for electroplating, nickel-alloy production, stainless steel production, in batteries, in electronics, in the ceramic industry and as catalysts. Exposure to nickel compounds affects the kidneys and respiratory tract and is associated with developing lung and nasal cancer. (NCI05)
