Nuclear Receptor Coactivator-4 Definition
ARA(70), encoded by proto-oncogene NCOA4, is a ligand-dependent co-activator protein that enhances specific AR transcriptional activity. The androgen receptor is a transcription factor of the steroid receptor superfamily. Although several steroid-class receptors recognize the same DNA regulatory sequence, gene-specific activation may be achieved by selective accessory factors that interact with the receptors to determine specificity of target gene activation. (from OMIM 601984 and NCI)
