PHEMX Protein Definition
Encoded by human PHEMX Gene, 320-amino acid 34.6 kD ubiquitous TSSC6 Protein (Tetraspanin Family) is an integral membrane protein of 290 amino acids that shows no similarity to any reported protein and may play a role in hematopoietic cell function. High levels of expression are confined to hematopoietic tissues including peripheral blood leukocytes, thymus, and spleen. Alterations in TSSC6 Protein or its gene may be associated with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, as well as lung, ovarian, and breast cancer.
