REL Protein Definition
REL protein is a product of the REL proto-oncogene and may play a role in differentiation and lymphopoiesis. It belongs to the REL/Dorsal family of transcription factors, containing the REL Homology Region (RHR), that includes NFKB and NF-AT. Some members of this family are regulated by subcellular sequestration in the cytoplasm by members of the IKB protein subfamily of RHR proteins, and are involved in embryonic development and differentiation.
