RHOB Protein Definition
RHO B protein is a GTP-binding protein involved in a signal transduction pathway that controls assembly of focal adhesions and actin stress fibers. Rho regulates remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton during cell morphogenesis and motility. Active Rho signals to its downstream effector ROCK1, which phosphorylates and activates LIM kinase. LIM kinase, in turn, phosphorylates cofilin, inhibiting its actin-depolymerizing activity. (from OMIM 165370 and NCI)
