Receptor Mediated Endocytosis Definition
A process by which cells internalize molecules or viruses. Receptors on the plasma membrane of the target cell bind to specific cell surface receptorson the endocytic cells, inducing formation of coated pits and endocytic invagination of the plasma membrane.
