SELE wt Allele Definition
Human SELE wild-type allele is located within 1q22-q25 and is approximately 11 kb in length. This allele, which encodes E-selectin protein, plays a role in the accumulation of blood leukocytes at sites of inflammation by mediating the adhesion of cells to the vascular lining. Variant alleles may be involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
