Human SERPINA5 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 14q32.1 and is approximately 12 kb in length. This allele, which encodes plasma serine protease inhibitor protein, plays a role in the inhibition of both plasminogen activators and activated protein C, a potent anti-coagulant.
