Serine Proteinase Inhibitor Definition
Compounds that inhibit serine endopeptidases. Serine proteinase inhibitors can be either exogenous or endogenous. Endogenous moieties occur naturally; however, exogenous inhibitors can be introduced to provide therapeutic benefit, such as antiretroviral or antiviral pharmaceuticals.
