Small Inducible Cytokine-A8 Definition
Chemokines, a family of small cytokines, attract leukocytes and possess various immunomodulating functions. CC chemokines influence mononuclear cell types. Human Macrophage Chemoattractant Protein-2 is a chemotactic factor for monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils. This monomer or homodimer can bind heparin. Its expression is induced by interferon gamma, mitogens, and IL-1. (from OMIM 602283, Swiss-Prot P80075, and NCI)
