Small Inducible Cytokine-B6 Definition
Encoded by human CXCL6 Gene (Intercrine Alpha/Chemokine CXC Family), secreted 114-aa 12-kD (precursor) Small Inducible Cytokine B6 is a potent inflammatory mediator and chemotactic factor for neutrophilic granulocytes that regulates leukocyte trafficking through interactions with a subset of 7-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2 and activates gelatinase B (MMP9) release from granulocytes. Human and bovine GCP2 are 67% identical at the amino acid level. (NCI)
