Sodium Chromate Cr-51 Definition
A radiopharmaceutical providing radioactive chromium-51 in the form of sodium chromate for diagnostic usage. Upon dissociation, the chromate ion binds to the membrane of red blood cells. Following translocation across the cell membrane, the ion binds to intracellular hemoglobin, thereby allowing imaging to determine red blood cell volume, survival time and evaluate blood loss.
