Spleen Tyrosine Kinase Definition
Related to B cell activation, PTK72 is a tyrosine kinase that becomes tyrosine phosphorylated and activated soon after anti-Ig stimulation of B cells. It is found associated with the mIg receptor complex. Unlike the membrane-bound Src-family tyrosine kinases, PTK72 is primarily present as a soluble cytosolic protein. It is probably the product of the syk gene and is highly related to the ZAP-70 protein associated with T cell activation.
