Synchrotron Definition
A device that accelerates particles in a circular orbit at a fixed radius. The acceleration is performed in an increasing magnetic field by means of an alternating electric field applied in conjunction with the orbital motion. This device has been utilized to delineate the structure of proteins involved in a variety of cancers and diseases.
