T-Cell Surface Glycoprotein-CD3 Epsilon Chain Definition
The CD3 complex mediates signal transduction. The TCR/CD3 complex of T lymphocytes consists of either a TCR Alpha/Beta or TCR Gamma/Delta heterodimer coexpressed at the cell surface with the invariant subunits of CD3 labeled Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, and Eta. CD3E Antigen, Epsilon Polypeptide (Tit3 Complex) is encoded by the CD3E gene. Recruitment of Nck by CD3 epsilon reveals a ligand-induced conformational change essential for T cell receptor signaling and synapse formation. (From LocusLink, Swiss-Prot and NCI)
