TAF-II-250 Protein Definition

A component of the TFIID protein complex. DNA-binding TAFII250 contains one HMG box and two bromodomains that bind multiply acetylated Histone H4. TAFII250, contains serine/threonine kinase domains that autophosphorylate, and transphosphorylate the large subunit of TFIIF. TAFII250 is essential for progression of the G1 cell cycle phase and may link control of transcription to the cell cycle. (from SWISS-PROT P21675, OMIM 313650, and NCI)
