Transforming Growth Factor Alpha Definition
Transforming growth factor alpha (TGFA) stimulates the growth and proliferation of cells, and its overexpression has been correlated with patient survival in a variety of tumors, including squamous carcinoma of the esophagus. In esophageal adenocarcinoma patients who received high-dose radiation and chemotherapy those with tumors that persistently expressed or that increased TGFA expression had a worse prognosis.
