Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Receptor Definition
TNFR1 is a 55 kD high-affinity cell surface receptor for tumor necrosis factor. Activated receptor interacts with death domains of TRADD to activate apoptosis and NFKB cascades. TRADD-interacting FADD proteolytically activates caspase-8. TNFR1 may activate PIP5K2B and may induce MAP kinase activation via MADD. (from OMIM 191190 and NCI)
