Ubiquitin Specific Protease-6 Definition
Encoded by human TRE2 Gene, some evidence suggests that human Ubiquitin Specific Protease 6 (C19 Peptidase Family) may actually be encoded by separate elements on chromosomes 5, 18, and 17. The 1089-amino acid 122 kD hydrophilic protein contains two charge clusters, suggesting nucleic acid-binding properties. Ubiquitin Specific Protease 6 appears to have ATP-independent isopeptidase activity, cleaving at the carboxyl terminus of ubiquitin. (OMIM, Swiss-Prot, LocusLink, and NCI)
