Ultraviolet C Radiation Definition
Many scientists rate wavelengths in the C range of the ultraviolet (UVC) solar spectrum, between 200 and 290 nm, as the most carcinogenic. The ozone layer absorbs most UVC rays. Recent ozone depletion has permitted more UV radiation to reach the Earth's surface with a wide range of potentially damaging health effects related to skin, eyes, and immune system. (NCI04)
