University of Minnesota Cancer Center Definition
The University of Minnesota Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Cancer Center sponsors eight research programs: breast cancer, cancer progression and metastasis, carcinogenesis and chemoprevention, genetic mechanisms of cancer, immunology, prevention and etiology, translational research, and transplant biology and therapy. The Cancer Center provides shared resources to its members in areas such as biostatistics, informatics, translational cell therapy, data collection, embryonic stem cell technology, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, and tissue procurement.
