Provider: Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), Madison, WI. Information from provider and not independently verified by NIH: Cells are positive for cell markers SSEA-3, SSEA-4, TRA-1-60, TRA-1-81, and alkaline phosphatase; Cells are negative for SSEA-1. Give rise to teratomas containing derivatives of three germ layers in SCID mice; Differentiate in vitro; Cells not yet ready for distribution. Publication: Thomson et al., Science 282, 1145, 1998. This cell line meets the criteria for the use of human embryonic stem cells by federally funded researchers.
