YWHAQ Protein Definition
Encoded by human YWHAQ Gene, 245-amino acid 27.8 kD YWHAQ Protein is a cytoplasmic homodimeric 14-3-3 family protein. 14-3-3 proteins are localized in neurons, and are axonally transported to the nerve terminals. 14-3-3 proteins may be present in other tissues as well. A probable multifunctional regulator of cell signaling processes, YWHAQ Protein strongly activates PKC and activates tyrosine and tryptophan hydroxylases in the presence of Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II. (Swiss-Prot, LocusLink, and NCI)
